Elijah Hinsdale Burritt (born April 20, 1794 in New Britain , Connecticut , died January 3, 1838 in Galveston , Texas ) was an American mathematician and astronomer . He is sometimes called "the forgotten astronomer". His major work, however, is his well-known " Geography of the Heavens " with the accompanying " Celestial Atlas ". He describes constellations in the beginning, going deep into the mythology and history of the constellations in a book published by W.G. Evans
