Subrahmanya riding on the back of a peacock which struts on a cobra and holds a smaller snake in its beak. Subrahmanya sits in lalitasana, leaning against a bolster and flanked by his consorts; the dark Valli is to his left and the fair Devasena to his right. In his upper pair of hands the god carries two kris-like swords: this is probably how the artist chose to depict Subrahmanya’s two most typical attributes, the vajra (thunderbolt) and the tanka (chisel). His lower right hand is in abhaya and his lower left in varada mudra. Each consort carries a lotus in one hand. A prabhavali (ornamental arch) frames the divine trio.
