Description
Miranda is one of the principal characters of William Shakespeare's The Tempest. She is the only female character to appear on stage during the course of the play and is one of only three women mentioned. John William Waterhouse (6 April 1849 – 10 February 1917) painted his interpritation of Miranda. He was an English painter known for working in the painterly version of the Academic style. His artworks were known for their depictions of women from both ancient Greek mythology and Arthurian legend.
